Optimum control period and economic threshold of the tea slug moth,Iragoides fasciata

In order to confirm optimum control period and economic threshold of the tea slug moth,Iragoides fasciata, food consumption,body length and body weight of the larvae of the tea slug moth were investigated,and the economic threshold in organic tea garden was estimated according to the retrieved loss equal to the control cost.The result showed that the total food consumption was 1.547 g per head during larval development.The food consumption of 1st and2 nd instars is very few,but increased rapidly from4th instars.The food consumption of 6th and 7th instars accounted for 19%and71.4%,respectively.Body weight increased rapidly from4th instars and reached the maximum of 0.167 g at the 7th instar.Therefore,in order to prevent the outbreak of the tea slug moth,control should be taken before the 4th instar and the economic threshold in organic tea garden is 6 heads/m2.
