Electroantennographic and behavioral responses of Anomala corpulenta to plant volatiles

To find possible attractants,20 kinds of plant volatiles were chosen for electroantennogram test and Ytube olfactometer bioassays using both female and male Anomala corpulenta.The results showed that methyl heptenone,cis-3-hexenyl acetate,nonanal,1-octene-3-alcohol,linalool and trans-2-hexenol elicited significant EAG responses at the concentration of 10μg/μL;furthermore,the response of females was stronger than that of males.The Y-tube olfactometer bioassays indicated that females were more sensitive to most volatiles than males.Compared with the control,females were attracted by trans-2-hexenol,cis-3-hexenyl acetate,6-methyl 5-hepten-2-one and 1-octene-3-alcohol,but males were only attracted by cis-3-hexenyl acetate.This study could provide a theoretical basis for developing attractants of A.corpulentafor ecological management.
