The Effect of Different NaCl Concentrations on Plant Growth, Photosynthetic Rate, Ion and Betaine Content of Seedling in Amaranthus tricolor

WANG Yu-Mei, REN An-Xiang,PAN Chun-Xiang (College of Yingdong Bioengineering,Shaoguan University,Shaoguan, Guangdong 512005) NII Naosuke (College of Agriculture, Meijo University ,Tempaku,Nagoya 468-8502, Japan)
The study about the effects of different NaCl concentrations at 0,150,300,and 500 mmol· L on 40-day-old seedling of Amaranthus tricolor showed that the plant growth, photosynthetic rate, rate of transpiration and opening degree of stoma were all restrained with different degrees after lasting 5 d. The contents of Na+ and Cl- in the leaf and root of Amaranthus tricolor increased remarkably with the raise of the concentration of NaCl. The contents of betaine in all treatments with different concentrations of NaCl increased.
