Effect of Planting Density on Yield and Quality of Tartary Buckwheat in High Altitude Region

Tartary buckwheat variety Liuku 2 was used as material to study effect of 5 different planting densities on yield and quality of tartary buckwheat in Shuicheng,Guizhou with altitude 1920 m in 2007.The results showed that yield and quality of tartary buckwheat were affected significantly by planting density.The yield and content of flavone in grain were increased when planting density increased from 750000 to 1200000 and 750000 to 1050000 plant/hm2respectively,while the contrary trends were observed when the density increased unceasingly.Protein content was increased but fattiness content was decreased with the increment of the density.Thus the optimal planting density of Liuku 2 is 1050000 to 1200000 plant/hm2in high altitude region.
