Repeated Tension Test of Duplex Structure TiAl Based Alloys

The repeated tension test of the specimens of duplex structure TiAl based alloy was carried out using loadamatic control procedure.Surface density of microcrack and performance of the specimens subjected to different processes of repeated tension test were measured.The effect of damage produced in the previons stage of the test on that produced in the late stage was also studied. Results showed that,the surface density of cracks did not increase with the increasing of unloading stress,the surface density of cracks was not regarded as a damage parameter through statistical analysis.No appreciable effects of microcrack damage on the apparent elastic modulus(E) could be found in the processes.Microcracks damage produced at higher preloading reduced the fracture stress (σf),fracture strain(εf) and fracture energy per unit(W′),however,that produced at lower preloading gave diminished effects.Damage produced in the load-control could not be evaluated by the elastic modulus(E) and surface density of crack(ω).
