Effect of pH on Activities of Mineral-Bioleaching Microorganisms and Bioleaching Rate

Bacterial activities at different initial medium pH(1.0~3.0)and leaching behavior for Zijinshan copper sulfide ore at different initial medium pH(1.4~4.5) were studied,respectively.The bacteria used was isolated from Zijinshan copper mine bioheap.The results showed that after the growth stability was established the solution with a initial pH less than 1.8 maintained at about pH 1.6,but the solution with initial pH more than 2.2 maintained at about pH 1.9.Leaching experiments at different initial medium pH(1.4~4.5)revealed that the optimum leaching pH for the bacteria was from 1.8 to 2.3 and there was a linear relationship between final pulp potential and leaching efficiency.
