The Epidemic Characteristics of Viral Hepatitis A and B from 1991 to 2000 in Ningbo City

Objective To analyze the epidemic characteristics of viral hepatitis A and B in Ningbo since the viral hepatitis typing was reported in 1991. Methods The monitoring data of hepatitis A and B from 1991 to 2000 were descriptively analyzed. Results The average incidence rate of hepatitis A was 52 63 per 100,000,with the mortality 0 03 per 100 , 000, the fatality rate 0 05% and a slow descending tendency of incidence was observed. The average incidence rate of hepatitis B was 42 55 per 100 , 000,with the mortality 0 17 per 100 , 000, the fatality rate 0 40% and the incidence was relatively stable. Conclusions There is a significantly descending tendency in the incidence of viral hepatitis. It is viral hepatitis A that plays an important role in the high incidence of viral hepatitis in Ningbo.
