Control evaluation of occupational hazards in a PVC production project by calcium carbide acetylene

[Objective]To evaluate the control effect of occupational hazards in a PVC production project by calcium carbide acetylene,to put forward control strategies,and protect the health of workers. [Methods]Through the field hygienic investigation,the occupational hazards concentration(or intensity) in this workplace was determined,and its control effect was evaluated. [Results]A total of 23 kinds of productive dust,physical and chemical hazards were detected,22 operation points were detected for dust,14(63.64%) were qualified;chemical toxicants of 16 kinds were detected in 78 points,all were qualified;noise was detected in 79 points involving 19 types of work,the qualified rate was 89.5%;the qualified rate of illumination and ultraviolet radiation was 100%. [Conclusion]The main occupational hazards were coal dust,silica dust,other dust(calcium carbide dust),vinyl chloride,carbon monoxide,hydrogen chloride,chlorine in this project,with serious harmful levels.Therefore,it is necessary to adopt effective protection measures against occupational hazards through technical reform.
