Comparison of ion-selective electrode and ion chromatography for determination of hydrogen fluoride in workplace air

[Objective]To compare the ion-selective electrode(A) and ion chromatography(B) for determination of hydrogen fluoride in workplace air. [Methods]The 2 methods for determination of hydrogen fluoride in workplace air were applied in a chemical plant,based on GBZ/T 160.36-2004.Analysis of variance was performed on the determination results. [Results]The standard sample and 5 air samples collected from phosphate room of a chemical plant were determined by method A and B for 6 times.The RSD was between 0.477% and 1.239%,the 2 methods comparison showed the F=1.482,P0.05;the recoveries were between 98.7%-103.3%,and the comparison showed F=0.358,P0.05. [Conclusion]The differences of precision,accuracy,and results are not significantly different between the 2 methods.Therefore,both they can be used for determination of hydrogen fluoride in air.
