[Objective]To understand the epidemiological characteristics of acute flaccid paralysis(AFP) in Hubei Province,to identify the existed problem immediately, and provide evidence for improving the monitoring quality. [Methods]The individual questionnaire and follow-up table of AFP cases reported by AFP surveillance system was statistically analyzed in Hubei Province between 2009 and 2010. [Results]A total of 433 AFP cases were reported in Hubei Province from 2009-2010,the reported incidence of non-polio AFP cases of children under 15 years old was 1.98/10 0000 and 2.23/100 000,respectively.Ninety seven percent of cases were investigated within 48 hours, the collection rate of double stool samples of AFP cases within 14 days after onset of paralysis was 91.2%,the collection rate of adequate stool samples was 89.8%,the promptness rate of AFP cases follow-up within 75 days after onset of paralysis was 84.3%. [Conclusion]To control the poliomyelitis should improve the surveillance quality, especially in AFP case identification, timeliness of reporting and stool specimen collection, and continue to enhance OPV routine immunization.
