Early effect of Jiangzhiyin on blood glucose, serum insulin and lipids in rats with insulin resistance

Objective: To observe the early effect of Jiangzhiyin(JZY) on blood glucose, serum insulin, lipid and LP in rats with insulin resistance(IR), and to explore the mechanism of JZY in protecting the rats with IR. Methods: Wistar♂rats were fed with high fat diet to make IR model, we administrated the rats with JZY after we got the successful model, high fat diet was continued to be fed at the same time. The blood glucose and body weight were tested every 4 weeks, and 10 weeks later the blood glucose and serum insulin, TG, LP were also examined. Results: After being fed with high fat diet the ISI of the rats from the model group descended, but the serum TG, LP and body weight all increased. Compared with the model group, ISI increased, while the serum TG, LP and body weight all descended in the rats from the JZY group ( P0.05,P0.01). Conclusion: JZY can improve the status of the rats with IR by increasing ISI, reducing serum lipid and LP.
