Diagnosis of fatigue fracture using MR imaging

Objective To investigate the value of MRI in diagnosis of fatigue fracture. Methods MR images of 16 patients with fatigue fracture (9 men, 7 women, aged 16-44 years) were analyzed. Results Compared with conventional radiographs and CT examinations, MRI could not only show fracture lines, but also reveal relatively early changes and more informations of fatigue fracture. Conclusion MRI provides a more worthful method for clinical diagnosis of fatigue fracture. Recognition of MRI features is helpful to early diagnosis and differential diagnosis of fatigue fracture.
