Application of rotational DSA and three dimensional reconstruction in interventional treatment of carotid stenosis

Objective To investigate the value of rotational digital subtraction angiography (DSA) and 3 D reconstruction in interventional treatment of carotid stenosis. Methods A total 100 cases diagnosed as carotid stenosis by vascular ultrasound were examined using routine two dimensional (2 D) angiography, rotational DSA and 3 D reconstruction. Results Rotational DSA and 3 D angiography could display the location, appearance and extent of stenotic vessel. The location and appearance of the sclerotic plaques were also clearly demonstrated. Conclusion Compared with conventional 2 D angiography, rotational DSA and 3 D reconstruction can show a more detailed picture of the stenotic vessels. It may help pre procedure planning and evaluate the risk of shedding atheroma into distal circulation.
