Ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration biopsy of sentinel lymph node detection in breast cancer metastasis

HAN Tao, MI Cheng-rong, WANG Wen(Department of Ultrasound, the Affiliated Hospital of Ningxia Medical University, Yinchuan 750004, China)
Objective To observe the significance of subcutaneous injection of ultrasound contrast agent and fine needle aspiration in detecting sentinel lymph of breast cancer patients with sentinel lymph node (SLN) metastasis, and to explore the clinical value of SLN with fine needle aspiration. Methods A total of 32 patients with pathologically confirmed breast cancer were enrolled. The SLN were observed and the number were recorded, lymph node metastasis were detected with fine needle aspiration, and the results were compared with those of postoperative pathology. Results The ratio of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography in detecting SLN in 32 patients was 78.13%. The sensitivity of fine needle aspiration cytology detection of SLN was 84.00%, the specificity was 100%, and the accuracy was 87.50%. Conclusion Fine needle aspiration biopsy (detection) of SLN has broad application prospects in lymph node staging of breast cancer.
