An investigation of bilateral symmetry of pelvic osteal marker

Objective To investigate bilateral symmetry of normal demic pelvic osteal marker.Methods The 3D reconstruction data of CT thin-slice scan of 50 normal ripe patients' pelvis were selected.Bilateral distances between pubic tubercle's exterior border and anterior superior iliac spine's inferior border,as well as distancse between anterior superior iliac spine's inferior border and posterior superior iliac spine's apogee were measured respectively.Statistical analysis was performed to compare the bilateral distances.Results The distance between pubic tubercle's exterior border and anterior superior iliac spine's inferior border was(120.77±7.8)mm in left side,and(120.61±7.89)mm in right side.No difference was found between the two sides(P=0.98).The distance between anterior superior iliac spine's inferior border and posterior superior iliac spine's apogee was(158.18±5.97)mm in left side,and(157.94±6.01)mm in right side.No difference was found between the two sides(P=0.99).Bilateral distance between pubic tubercle's exterior border and anterior superior iliac spine's inferior border had high correlation(r=0.99,P0.01).Bilateral distance between anterior superior iliac spine's inferior border and posterior superior iliac spine's apogee also had high correlation(r=0.98,P0.01).Conclusion Bilateral distance of demic pelvic osteal marker has no significant difference.Data in healthy side can provide evidence for preoperative precise quantitative measurement of the morbid side.
