Epidemiolgical survey on skeletal fluorosis of drinking brick-tea type in Aba county of Sichuan province and Chenbaerhuqi county of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region

Experts' Group of the Ministry of Public Health for Epidemiological survey of fluorosis of Teadrinking Type) (Fluorosis Institute Harbin Medical Uninersity, Harbin 150096)  
Objective To find out the disease state of fluorosis of drinking brick - tea and its eprdemic features among Tibetan and Mongolia abults. Methods One of typical disease areas was selected in the north and also one in the south of China, then the cross sectional study was made with stratified and cluster sampling from may to-July l999. the objects of study were adults ouve 16 years old. The skeletal fluorosis was determined with clinical and X - ray methods. Results in Aba county, clinical standardized prevelance and X - ray standardized prevelance were 87. 35% and 67. 90% among Tibetan, respectively. In chenbaerhuqi county. Clinical standardized prevelance and X - ray standardized prevelance were 35. 22% and 41. 11% among Mongolian, respectively. There was a significant difference between above- mentioned indicators of Aba .county and Chenbaerhuqi counly(P 0. 01). Conclusion The disease states of skeletal fluorosis of drinking brick - tea type among Tibetan adults were more serious than that of Mongolia adults, and prevelance of the disease of both areas were maintained in higher level.
