Study on the Co-firable Property and Preparation of the ZnO-B_2O_3-SiO_2 Glass-ceramics

Low temperature co-fired microwave dielectric ceramics have been developed to use for microwave device so as to miniaturize modern wireless communication systems.To decrease the firing temperature,low melting ZnO-B2O3-SiO2 glass powders were prepared by sol-gel process and heat treated at 800℃,and then added into 0.3BaZrO3-0.7(Mg0.7Zn0.3)2SiO4 ceramic composites.The effects of pH value and temperature on gelation process were investigated.The phase transition and structure of gel,glass and glass-ceramics were analyzed by means of Forrier transformation infrared and X-ray diffraction technology.The experimental results indicate that stable ZnO-B2O3-SiO2 glass-ceramics powders can be obtained by controlling pH of sol at 0.5,gel temperature at 60℃ and heat treatment temperature at 800℃.Sintering temperature of the ceramic composites is able to be reduced down to 900℃ by adding the glass-ceramics powder.Low sintering mechanism is explained as the excellent wettability of the liquid phase formed by the above low melting glass ceramics at relative low temperature on the ceramic composite phase.
