AESTHETIC DISSOCIATION OF GOD OF WAR IV UNDER DEFAMILIARIZATION VISION
As the classic masterpieces, Norse mythological tales are often adapted into various art forms, among which the video game God of War IV has refreshed the public's perception of the previous adaptations of Norse mythology. The game has achieved subversive dislocation and innovative transformation in many aspects such as character portrayal, main meaning and aesthetic paradigm. The defamiliarization creates a “seemingly aesthetic distance” between the game story and the original mythological tales, resulting in the "Aesthetic Dissociation". This paper conducts a detailed study of the adaptation of God of War IV, aiming to provide a worthy creative model for the adaptation of classic mythological tales.
