Absorption of Cu~(2+) in Aquaculture Effluents by a Chitosan Derivative

A novel chitosan derivative was prepared by chitosan and carboxymethyl chitosan as raw materials,and 25% glutaraldyhyde as a cross-linked agent to absorb Cu2 +in aquaculture effluents.The effects of the Cu2+ concentration,pH value,absorption duration,temperature and dosage of the chitosan derivative on Cu2+ absorption were investigated.The results showed that the chitosan derivative had higher absorption for Cu2+,the absorption capacity reaching 178 mg/g,and can be reused several times after simple regeneration.It is a hopeful way to treat aquaculture effluent.
