Influence of Case Qualities on EFP Performance

The formative process of cased explosive formed projectile(EFP) was simulated with LS-DYNA3D and the influence of material and thickness of case on the performance of EFP was investigated.It was found that increase in case' density and thickness is helpful for enhancing velocity and compactness of EFP.As a given EFP configuration,critical temperature of case can be determined to ensure maximum length of the formed projectile.The research result can be applied to optimal design of EFP warhead.
