Fabrication of Al_(2(1-x))Mg_xTi_(1+x)O_5 Composite Powder by Chemical Co-Precipitation

By using chemical co- precipitation method, Al2(1- x)MgxTi1+ xO 5 composite powder was fabricated from TiCl4, MgCl2 and AlCl3 solutions with NH3 (H2O, NH4HCO3 as the precipitators. The properties of the powder were characteri zed by TG- DTA, XRD and calculation of the crystal lattice constant. All the re sults indicate that the thermal stability of Al2TiO5 obtained by chemical co- p recipitation is effectively enhanced compared with that fabricated by solid- st ate synthesis method. The optimum conditions for preparing Al2(1- x)MgxTi1+ xO5 composite powder are 30mol% MgTi2O5, 2mol/L NH3· H2O, pH of 9 and calcin ation temperature of 1350℃ .
