Experimental study on internal wave generated by apropeller in a stratified fluid

To obtain hydrodynamics characteristics of the propeller wake in the stratified fluid,the quantitative measurement analysis of the disturbed characteristics produced by a standard SUBOFF model with an propeller in the large-type stratified fluid tank of continuous density pycnocline were conducted by means of the multi-channel conductivity-probe arrays.The special configurations about the propeller effect in the stratified fluid were obtained in comparison with the characteristics of the internal wave generated by a towed body.For example,the critical Froude number becomes Frs=4.4,double-wave system exits in wave,and the propeller wake contains low frequency behavior and asymmetrical structure.So some new understanding of the complicated propeller-effect in the ocean of stratification is established,and the more experimental evidences for the propeller-wake modeling and its application are provided.
