Dehydrogenation of 2-butanol on Cu/Al_2O_3 catalyst prepared by impregnation

(Cu/Al_2O_3) catalysts were prepared by impregnation method. We studied the effect of different crystal forms of ( Al_2O_3) on the structure and properties of the catalyst and also investigated the effects of these catalysts on the dehydrogenation of 2-butanol and the selectivity to MEK. Based upon the characterization by means of BET, XRD and TPR, it is conduded that supports can effect the state of copper species on the catalyst surface. By an appropriate treatment of the supports, we could get the optimal catalysts for the dehydrogenation of 2-butanol.
