Bright Quenching of the Pencil-Sharpened Blades with Nitrogen-based Atmosphere

This paper deals with the bright quenching of small parts with nitrogen based atmosphere. The device, the selection and preparation method of atmosphere and the quenching process are discussed. By the analyses of oxygen potential and nitrogen potealiat, it was denoted that this process may be controlled with oxygen sensor. Research and practice showed thai, nitrogen based almosphere prepared from nitrogen and ethanol may be used for the bright quenching of pencil-sharpened blades in instead of heating in salt bath. The quality of blades may be improved, the environment pollution may be avioded and the economical benefit is remarkable.
