Research into Microscopic Traffic Simulation Model Systematic Parameter Calibration: A Case Study of VISSIM

Microscopic simulation models have been widely used in traffic system management, control and optimization; however, most of the simulation parameters are determined according to the situations in foreign countries and not always suitable for those in China. Firstly, this paper proposes a procedure for microscopic simulation model calibration. Then taking a VISSIM simulation example of Peking road in Shanghai as an example, we have designed the experiment by using Latin Square algorithm and calibrated the simulation parameters by using the field data. Finally, it points out the aspects that need improving.
