Application of UAV visual flow velocimetry in river flow monitoring

The research on visual flow measurement technology focused on UAV and artificial intelligence will greatly simplify the process of river testing tasks, improve testing efficiency, and reduce testing costs. This paper has carried out basic research on water surface image velocity measurement technology and water surface tracer and texture modal recognition algorithm. Through combination with UAV technology, the research team has developed a set of UAV visual flow velocimetry(UVFV)system suitable for river velocity and flow measurement in hydrological industry, and carried out field test and data comparison. The research results show that the UAV visual flow measurement system has advanced performance, high efficiency, convenience and accurate data. The crosssectional flow estimation error of the system is less than 5%, which can fully respond to the needs of river emergency monitoring and routine hydrological testing and provide strong technical support for the modernization of hydrological industry information.
