In order to deeply study the influence of aluminum powder dispersion characteristics on the overpressure of dust explosion, aluminum powder explosion experiments with different ignition delays are carried out in a 20 L spherical vessel explosive device, and then the dispersion characteristics of aluminum powder in a 20 L spherical vessel are numerically simulated by three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics. The results show that: 1)When the concentration of aluminum powder is 400 g·m~(-3) and the ignition delay is 80 ms, the measured explosion overpressure reaches the maximum value of 0.94 MPa. 2)During the powder spraying process, the air flow velocity at different positions in the 20 L spherical vessel is also different, but all of them show a trend of increasing first and then decreasing with time. The average air flow velocity reaches the maximum value of 102 m·s~(-1) at 5 ms after the valve is opened. The above research results have important reference value for preventing aluminum powder dust explosion accidents.
