Research on short video platform combined with case-based learning in online-offline teaching mode for foreign students

Objective Due to the different educational backgrounds and methods of international students, the education for international students should not only stay at the level of medical knowledge input, but also improve the teaching methods according to their characteristics and the rise of short video platforms in the context of the epidemic.The current study aims to improve the international student education and stimulate their enthusiasm for learning with the help of short video platforms combined with case-based learning.Methods A total of 100 2018 international students from March 2022 to September 2022 at Capital Medical University were selected. Class 1(50 students)is chosen as experimental group, and the curriculum design scheme is basically the same as that of Class 2(50 students, control group).The experimental group received short video platform combined with CBL teaching method, while the control group received traditional teaching method.Results The results showed that the impact of the epidemic on the learning of foreign students was significantly greater than that of domestic students(P0.05).At the same time, the examination scores and class participation of foreign students in the experimental group were significantly better than those in the control group(P0.05).However, there was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in regard with the assignments.Class satisfaction survey showed that CBL combined with short video teaching method has been affirmed by teachers and students, with good teaching effect and feedback.Conclusion The application of short video platform combined with CBL teaching method can promote the understanding of the theory and enhance the participation and enthusiasm of students.Professors can improve their teaching and research practical ability and promote professional development through specific teaching, reflection and careful discussion.
