Synthesis of non-ionic waterborne epoxy curing agent and its application in anti-rust coatings

In this paper,the adduct(TETA-NPER-032) was synthesized by adding triethylenete tramine(TETA) dropwise into polyether polyol diglycidyl ether(NPER-032),and then liquid epoxy resin(EPON828) was incorporated to react with the adduct obtained to produce non-ionic self-emulsifying waterborne epoxy curing agent.Nano-particle size analysis showed that the synthesized non-ionic waterborne epoxy curing agent had an excellent function to emulsify liquid epoxy resin,FTIR test demonstrated that EPON828 had already reacted with the adduct completely.Two-component waterborne epoxy anti-rust coatings were formulated with this non-ionic waterborne epoxy curing agent,liquid epoxy resin,novel composite Fe-Ti anti-rust pigments and other necessary additives.It was found that the two-component anti-rust coatings prepared has optimal property combination of drying time,mechanical strength and salt water resistance,when the epoxy/amine hydrogen equivalent ratio is about 1.1.
