Effect of exposure to air pollutants on the number of inpatients with COPD in Zigong from 2019 to 2020

Objective To investigate the effects of air pollutants (PM_(10),PM_(2.5),NO_2,CO and SO_2)(lag 0 to 5 days) on the number of hospital admissions for COPD in Zigong City.Methods The patients with COPD were selected as the research subjects.We collected daily meteorological data,air pollutant data,and admission data from six hospitals in the two districts of Zigong City from January 1,2019 to December 31,2020.Generalized additive model of time series and Meta analysis method were used to analyze the impact of pollutants on the daily number of COPD admissions in various hospitals.Results Each additional 10μg/m~3for PM_(10),PM_(2.5),and SO_2daily concentration (lag3) results in increased daily COPD hospitalizations excess risk (ER) values for1.819%(0.800%~2.838%),1.471%(0.549%~2.393%) and 3.620%(0.019%~7.211%) in Zigong City,respectively.Conclusions The short-term exposure of various air pollutants can increase in the number of COPD admissions in the hospitals in Zigong,and there are differences between different hospitals.
