Objective The green pepper variety‘qiemenjiao'was used as experimental material. The effects of different concentrations of“seedling-raising baby”on the growth and root system of green pepper seedlings were studied to select the optimum concentration to promote the plant growth and root development of green pepper seedlings. Methods Four treatments with spraying concentration were designed by field experiment. The indicators such as plant height, stem diameter, length and width of leaf, chlorophyll content, net photosynthetic rate, dry and fresh weight of overground, and root length, root diameter, root surface area, root volume, dry and fresh weight of root at seedling stage were studied. Results “Seedling-growing baby”with different spraying concentrations could improve the plant growth and root development of green pepper seedlings.Treatment with spraying 400 times liquid was the most significant, which could increased the plant height and stem diameter of green pepper seedlings by 24.13% and 69.77% compared with the control, respectively. The leaf photosynthetic efficiency of green pepper seedlings was significantly improved, and the chlorophyll content and net photosynthetic rate of seedling leaves were increased by 17.62% and 8.49% compared with the control, respectively. The accumulation of dry matter in aboveground and underground parts was increased maximally, and the root development of underground parts was promoted; except for root diameter, root length, root surface area and root volume were significantly larger than those of control, which were increased by 14.76%,22.68% and 66.67%,respectively.Conclusion Spraying 400 times liquid was the optimal concentration to increase the plant growth and root development of green pepper seedlings.
