Effect of Improving Water Qulity in Intensive Culture Pond with Integrated System of Biological Methods

From July to September in 2008,each of the 3 intensive culture ponds was divided into two sections: fish culture section and water purification section.Except for the control pond,an integrated system consisted of water spinach,clam and biofilter brush were formed in the purification section of the other two ponds to improve water quality in the intensive culture ponds.Polymer namometer oxygen aerator was introduced in early August to increase the dissolved oxygen.The experiment results during these two stages indicate that the integrated system of biological methods has great mutual beneficial effects in removing the nitrogen,phosphorus and organic material in pond.It is effective in removing total suspended solids(TSS),total nitrogen(TN),ammonium nitrogen(TAN),nitrite nitrogen(NO-2-N),nitrate nitrogen(NO-3-N),orthophosphate phosphorus(PO3-4-P) and total phosphorus(TP).The dissolved oxygen content could reaches over 5 mg·L-1 with the help of polymer namometer oxygen aerator.The Nemero Index of water quality in the three ponds indicates that the desity of biological materials in pond No.2 during the second stage is a little higher.
