Effect of old compress of 10% normal saline ice pack on relieving the swelling pain of knee-joint replacement

Objective To study the more effective method to relieve the swelling pain of knee-joint replacement. Method 96 patients with swelling pain of knee-joint replacement were randomly divided into experimental group(n=48) and control group(n=48).Applying cold compress with 10%normal saline ice pack and ice pack of water in experimental group and control group respectively.Result Compared with control group,the degree of pain in experimental group had significant difference on 1,24,48 hours after cold compress(P0.05),and also the degree of swelling on 48,72 hours(P0.05). From the second day after cold compress,the rate of repercussion in the experimental group was more quickly than control group.The third hours of the cold compress,the temperature of 10%normal saline ice pack was-4 ℃,and it became frost water,and the temperature of ice pack was 2 ℃,it had completely melted.Conclusion The effect of cold compress of 10%normal saline ice pack on cooling and repercussion is better than ice pack,It could be used in the clinic extensively.
