Preparation and application of waterborne polyurethane adhesive for packing drugs

With IPDI(isophorone diisocyanate),sulfonated polyester polyol and DMPA(dihydromethyl propionic acid) as main raw materials,a WPU(waterborne polyurethane) adhesive for packing drugs was prepared. Then,the WPU adhesive was coated on aluminum foil,so a corresponding aluminum foil tape,which some properties such as barrier property,heat-seal strength,easy oxidizable substance contents and residual organic solvent contents were tested,was prepared. The research results showed that the barrier property,heat-seal strength(11.9 N/15 mm), easy oxidizable substance contents(not more than 0.5 mL) and residual organic solvent contents could all meet application requirements of material for packing drugs when R value or molar ratio of n(-NCO in IPDI)/n(-OH in sulfonated polyester polyol) was 3.5.
