Oviposition Deterrence and Ovicidal Activity of Celosia argentea Extracts on Tirathaba rufivena Walker

In order to explore the application potential of Celosia argentea on pest control,and provide new thought for the control of Tirathaba rufivena Walker,the oviposition deterrent and ovicidal activity of Celosia argentea extracts on Tirathaba rufivena Walker were studied with bioassay methods in the laboratory.Among oviposition deterrent activities,methanol and petroleum ether extracts showed best expression.All extracts may influence the egg hatchability of T.rufivena,and non-difference was observed among methanol,ethanol,distilled water,ethyl acetate,hexane and petroleum ether extracts,with egg mortality 20%,and higher than that of chloroform and acetone.Extracts of methanol,ethanol and petroleum ether showed highest activity to 1st instar larvae,and the corrected mortalities were 53%,51.75% and 45.54%,respectively.Among the different solvent extracts of C.argentea methanol extraction,the diethyl ether extracts showed best activities on oviposition deterrent,ovicidal activity and 1st instar larvae lethality of T.rufivena.
