Study on Scavenging Activity of Free Radicals by Semen Cuscutae Flavonoids

Using the assay system of DPPH,hydroxyl radical system,oxidation system of linolic acid induced by alkane radical,superoxide radical system,the antioxidation activities of flavonoid from Semen Cuscutae were studied and compared with Vc and BHT.The results showed that Semen Cuscutae flavonoid possessed strong scavenging activity on DPPH,hydroxyl radical and superoxide radical with corresponding maximum scavenging rate 91.56%、89.39% and 87.65% at the concentration from 0.008 mg/mL to 1 mg/mL.The maximum inhibition rate of Semen Cuscutae flavonoid to alkane radical was 84.22% and was higher than those of Vc and BHT.These results suggested that Semen Cuscutae flavonoid would be a effective natural free radical scavenger.
